Hosted by Safe Surgery South Africa and the Bopehlo Unit for Equity, Intelligence and Learning. The 2026 Data Driven Surgery Conference brings together clinicians, researchers, health system leaders, programme managers, policy-makers, trainees and implementation partners committed to improving surgical care through the use of data, evidence and learning health systems.
Abstract submissions are now invited for oral presentations at the 2026 conference.

Safe Surgery South Africa (SSSA), the Bophelo Unit for Equity, Intelligence and Learning, the African Perioperative Research Group (APORG), and the National Safe Surgery Technical Working Group invite researchers, clinicians, programme managers, policymakers, trainees and innovators to submit abstracts for presentation at the 2026 Data-Driven Surgery Conference.

On Wednesday the 4th of December 2024, a conference on Data Driven Surgery: Empowering Policy & Practice, was co-hosted by Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) and Safe Surgery SA.
